Jo Sawa - Lavender Counselling

Book

Jo Sawa (She/her)

Counselling is a deeply personal journey — a space to slow down, unpack your experiences, and reconnect with the deeper parts of yourself. It takes real courage to show up and allow yourself to be vulnerable.

Perhaps you’ve been carrying the weight of an inner critic, or there are parts of you you’ve kept hidden out of fear, shame, or simply not knowing where to start. Whatever brings you here, know that you are welcome — just as you are. Together, we can gently bring those hidden parts into the light with curiosity and compassion, making sense of what’s been keeping you stuck. Often, it’s the small inner shifts that lead to the most meaningful and lasting change.

As a relational trauma therapist, I have the privilege of supporting teens and adults as they heal and grow — helping them reconnect with their authentic voice and inner wisdom. My work supports those navigating anxiety, depression, eating disorders, burnout, identity or cultural exploration, life transitions, questions of meaning and purpose, parent–teen conflict, relationship challenges, and attachment injuries. I offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space to explore what’s bringing you into therapy.
My practice focuses on somatic attachment psychotherapy, blending evidence-based approaches such as mindfulness, nervous system awareness, and body-based techniques with traditional talk therapy. I believe the body holds incredible intuitive wisdom — and when we slow down enough to listen, we can begin to truly sense and understand its messages. Tapping into this wisdom can become a powerful tool in the healing journey, unlocking deeper awareness, new insights, and enhancing emotional regulation.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, holding a Master’s in Counselling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. With over a decade of experience in the public sector supporting children, teens, and families, I bring an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive lens to my work. My practice continues to evolve through ongoing education and training in psychoanalytic, somatic, relational, neuroscience, and attachment-based therapies.
If something in these words resonates with you, I invite you to reach out. Human beings are wired for connection and belonging — we’re not meant to heal in isolation. I would be honoured to walk alongside you as we explore what’s possible together.
