Hi. I’m Jane and I am so glad you are here!
First, I want to acknowledge the courage it may have taken to begin looking into supportive services. It is so important that the therapist you choose to work alongside feels like a good fit for you and you are already taking a huge first step by exploring this profile. Welcome!
Below I will offer a brief introduction to who I am and what you may experience when working with me.
I am a Clinical Counsellor (RCC), registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). In practice, I prioritize the therapeutic relationship and will seek to understand your life as you know it. I am not here to tell you to be different or to show up in another way, I am here to support you in developing your own understanding of who you are and what may have influenced the ways you view and operate in this world.
Most folx who choose to work with me are seeking some kind of change; they may know that something isn’t working for them but have difficulty understanding why or how to create something different. Together we may compassionately explore your experiences, seeking to make sense of what feels stuck, and come up with a collaborative plan to support you in moving toward a life that feels congruent with who you authentically know yourself to be.
Importantly, I want to note that maintaining a trauma-informed perspective is integral to my practice, and I approach every new client with a deep understanding of how early life experiences have the potential to impact current, day-to-day functioning. How we internalize our experiences, the ways in which we process the world, and how we use that information to help us navigate our relationships, are unique processes. It is of utmost importance to me to meet you where you’re at, doing what I can to understand your world as you’ve experienced it.
Counselling With Me
My personal life experiences have informed my philosophies as a practicing psychotherapist, and I have been fortunate to participate in a variety of enhanced training opportunities and work alongside folx with diverse backgrounds and life histories. Each of these has lend to the development of an extensive toolbox; one that we will access in accordance with your individual needs, interests, and personal goals.
I primarily work with young adults and adults (17+), both individually and in groups, and I offer phone, virtual, and in-person sessions. I also offer clinical supervision and consultation, personal and professional development coaching, and trauma-informed, psycho-education for allied health and healing professionals.
While foundationally I follow what’s called a person-centered, humanistic framework, my specializations in trauma, attachment, and relational challenges, fit well with the integration of therapeutic tools that are rooted in modalities including experiential, body-centered, cognitive, and relational practices. As such, folx who choose to work with me may have opportunity to experiment with body-orientated and somatic practice, mindfulness, nature-based psychotherapy, equine-partnered psychotherapy, self-compassion, cognitive and solution-focused skill development, and so on.
I often support folx with concerns related to:
– Complex and/or relational traumas
– Attachment wounds
– Relationship difficulties
– Anxiety
– PTSD
– Substance use and/or addictions
– Low mood
– Intense emotions and/or regulating emotions
– Stress
– Career and life transitions

Summary
While credentials and training are one thing, I believe it is most important to have a solid, safe, and trusting relationship within the therapeutic setting.
I want to understand your world as you have made sense of it. While I may provide you with guidance, offer observation, and ask questions to elicit a particular thought process, my position is never to tell you how to live your life or begin to suggest that I could know you better than you know yourself. I’m going to meet you with a compassionate stance; one in which you know you are supported, listened to, cared for, and not alone. Together, we will work collaboratively to assess your goals for counselling and to unpack your concerns in a way that will help you move along your healing path.
Again, it is so important that the therapist you decide to work with feels like someone you connect with and I am grateful for the time you have allotted to learning more about me. I can’t wait for the opportunity to get to know you. Take good care until then and I will see you soon!
